

On a side note, after taking another look at my device manager, I've noticed that it doesn't correctly identify my GPU model number (instead of 5470 it says 5000), just like it does after my drivers are uninstalled. The best answer I have to your problem is that Catalyst is ♥♥♥♥ and maybe one day AMD/ATI will actually make one that works how it's supposed to. I system restored and decided to get complacent with my current drivers.
